Things to Eat in Chhath Puja
The festival’s first day, which lasts four days, is bathed. Women who are fasting take a bath and pray by wearing fresh garments on this day. They then eat gramme dal, pumpkin vegetable, and rice as prasad. Other family members do not eat until the fasting women have finished their prasad.
Second Day of Chhath Puja
On the second day of Chhath Puja, Kharna is held. Women bake jaggery pudding in a wood burner and eat it as prasad on this day. After that, ladies undertake a 36-hour Nirjala fast. The sixth Maya, according to mythology, arrives after Kharna Puja.
Third Day of Chhath Puja
Women fast on the third day of Chhath Puja and make Chhath Puja offerings throughout the day. Women dressed in new clothes walk to the pond or river’s edge in the evening to worship with their families. Apart from that, present Arghya to the setting sun while standing in a river or pond. Women retire to their houses after nightfall.
Last Day of Chhath Puja
Women get up early on the last day of Chhath Puja and go to the bank of a pond or river to perform puja. Arghya is offered by women at sunrise. The fasting women circumambulate their location seven or eleven times after the Arghya. After that, the women break their fast by handing each other prasad.
