Realme 8s 5G Review, Specifications, Features and Release Date

Realme 8s 5G Review: Realme already has a large Realme 8 portfolio, which it is expanding even further with the new Realme 8s 5G.

Let’s put it in context for a moment. Realme’s vanilla and Realme 8 Pro, on the one hand, are the “higher-end” of the family, with Super AMOLED displays and significantly more complex camera setups. However, these are still modest chipsets. With its 120Hz IPS display, the Realme 8i falls into the same broad category, albeit it is arguably oriented more towards budget gamers. LTE connectivity, or rather the lack of 5G functionality, is something that all of these devices have in common. Realme launched the Realme 8 5G to remedy this issue.

Adding 5G to the mix without breaking the bank required compromising a few other hardware elements of the device, therefore making it a “lesser” smartphone in most ways other than 5G. While 5G support is still fairly costly, hardware costs have been quickly decreasing. The new Realme 8s 5G is a handset that costs around the same as the Realme 8 5G but delivers more hardware for the same price.

Realme 8s 5G Review, Specifications, Features and Release Date

You won’t receive a display quite as spectacular as the Realme 8 or Realme 8 Pro, but you will get a brighter 90Hz IPS panel, rated at 600 nits, when compared to the earlier Realme 8 5G. The Dimensity 810 5G chipset is another update – a little step up from the Dimensity 700 5G, but nonetheless a nice increase in CPU speed and a better 6nm manufacturing process. The Realme 8s 5G also features a higher-resolution 64MP primary camera and gyro-EIS support. The base storage has been increased to 128GB. Last but not least, the Realme 8s 5G’s 5,000 mAh battery can now charge at up to 33W.

That pretty well sums up the differences between the Realme 8s 5G and the Realme 8 5G, and the list is rather amazing in our opinion. The Realme 8s 5G, as far as we know, will only be available in India. Of course, prices will fluctuate, and Flipkart already receives a commission. Deals for the earlier Realme 8 5G, on the other hand, might easily sway the value proposition equation one way or the other.

Regardless, the Realme 8s 5G appears to give a good, small, all-around increase to the Realme 8 5G on paper. Join us on the following pages as we try to figure out if all of the improvements work well together and result in a better phone overall.

Unboxing Contents

But first, let’s start with the unboxing. In this regard, Realme has its own distinct style. A two-piece, bright yellow box with lots of structural integrity and toughness to keep everything nice and secure. On the interior, there’s also a plastic cradle to keep the phone in place. There aren’t any issues.

By today’s standards, you receive a rather excellent accessory bundle, which includes a rather large wall charger that can generate up to 33W of power, a USB Type-A to Type-C connection, and, last but not least, a fairly decent, transparent TPU case, so you can start using the Realme 8s 5G right away.
